Tropicana Blackjack (Atlantic City Rules and Games)

Most people think about the Atlantic City Boardwalk when they hear Tropicana. But the Tropicana blackjack games attract a lot of gamblers to the casino.

In this post, I cover everything you need to know about blackjack at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. But I also share a little information about the other Tropicana, located in Laughlin, Nevada.

And once you learn more about Tropicana blackjack, I cover everything else the Tropicana in Atlantic City has to offer. You might be surprised at everything you can do at the Tropicana gambling resort.

Tropicana Blackjack Games

Tropicana offers six deck and eight deck blackjack tables. Eight deck blackjack tables dominate the floor and offer the lowest bet limits. Most of the six deck blackjack games can be found in the high limit area.

The bet spread for most eight deck tables runs from $10 to $500. In the high limit area, the bet spread runs from $100 to $6,000. You can find a few six deck blackjack games outside the high limit area. These games have a bet spread running from $25 to $1,000.

Most Tropicana blackjack games use the same rules. However, at eight deck tables, the dealer stands on a soft 17, and at the six deck tables, the dealer hits on a soft 17.

Tropicana Atlantic City also offers a single table of Double Attack Blackjack. Double Attack Blackjack uses Spanish decks like Spanish 21. Spanish decks don’t use 10s, so the deck has 48 cards.

Double Attack Blackjack uses a few unique rules:

  • You can double your original wager after seeing the dealer up card.
  • Insurance pays 5 to 2.
  • You can surrender at any time.

Online Tropicana Blackjack

Tropicana online casino used to use Gamesys Limited software. They’re switching to a partnership with Light & Wonder. But players currently are playing online at caesarscasino.com.

The list below is current at the time of publication. But when the new online Tropicana software launches, a few games might change. But most of the games will remain the same.

Over the years there have been many casinos using the Tropicana brand. But now there are only two. Caesars Entertainment owns the Tropicana brand now.

You can find the Laughlin Tropicana at 2121 South Casino Drive, Laughlin, NV 89029.

This post is mostly about Atlantic City Tropicana blackjack. While the Laughlin, Nevada Tropicana has blackjack games, the Atlantic City location has better name recognition because it’s one of the main casinos in the city.

Tropicana and Caesar’s Entertainment

The Tropicana in Atlantic City opened on November 23, 1981. It has also been known as the TropWorld Resort. The current casino was built on the site of the Ambassador Hotel, which was originally built in 1919.

The hotel closed sometime in 1970 and Ramada bought it in 1978. The reopened hotel, called the Phoenix, was renamed Tropicana after Ramada bought the Tropicana in Las Vegas.

Gaming and Leisure Properties bought the Tropicana in 2018 and was later leased to Eldorado. Eldorado acquired Caesars Entertainment and renamed their company Caesars. And that’s how Tropicana became part of the vast Caesars Empire.
